What began as a pipe dream on the beach became one of the more talked about events in 2006. After locating the field site in early June of 2005 (but unfortunately having to wait until November to gain site approval from the Clark County Parks and Rec office), Trouble in Vegas was born.
College Trouble in Vegas brought together 93 teams in 4 divisions. Squads came from all over the US and Canada, and everyone did their damndest to pack as much playing, (legal*) drinking, dancing, gambling, and other assorted Trouble in to a 72 hour period. In the end, many a fantasy was realized, some innocence was lost, and the legend of TiV was indelibly carved into the annals of ultimate history.
Hector Valdivia might have said it best in his blog entry of Feb 7, 2006:
Vegas is a drug, overpowering, arrogant and seductive. ... These are college kids, players with tickets for the day after, or the luxury of having a team that doesn't give a shit about results. This is pawned textbooks, made-up college expenses for daddy, sold iBook for another chance at greatness in the Roulette wheel. This is underage drinking and walks down casino hallways and street sidewalks where you're offered anything from opium to sex to religious salvation. These are kids who last partied hard the night of Prom. This is Trouble.
